This one is a really good shot.

Yes, I remembered this one before I'd known of its existence. This is one of the many times that you have struggled with being a somnambulist. I know that your shadow didn't speak back... but you were hoping that something, somewhere, sometime would shed new light.

I, too, am somnambulist who somehow wants to believe in the concept of waking up...

Of course nothing answered, least of all yourself. I say, "Caste no shadow." You say, "Turn your back on the mirror." Both of us know what the purpose of taps and mirrors are. Nevertheless, they remain strange obsessions because neither of us know what quality of meaning they hold. We cannot even commit ourselves to the idea of quality in their meaning.

PS. Love the photo, Albano!

Looks to me like you got your fingers crossed. And they're behind your back. That can only mean one thing.

What?! Oh, I don't have a clue. But, especially in the wake of recent entries, this is a severely intriguing shot.

Actually, it's pretty much that anyway.

Concern with appearance is not just an aberration... what is and is not beautiful...every contemporary society has its own distinctive concept of the ideal physical attributes...

Mirror, mirror...

You would have made a premium Cossack!

Mind you, if I wanted to be beautiful in the mid-Renaissance, I would have had to shave my hairline to make my face look like an egg, pasted on a layer of egg-white and white lead and shaved my eyebrows off. Mmmm: now that's TRUE beauty.

Lead poisoning isn't very attractive but, obviously, it was worth it!

Just goes to show that beauty isn't simply in the eye of the beholder... It's a sign/symbol of the times.

I still say that you're delicious Cossack material and that I would have made a nice, simple snack.

I guess I have been one in the past...

Everybody says that I look like a soldier and ask me if I'm russian...I wear always boots and some clothes similar to the military stuff ;)

And I have 1.80m with 90kg of muscles ;)))

thank you Iryna...

Oho! But not a Russian Cossack: they didn't actually exist until 'Sich' was finally destroyed by Katherina the Great and taken across as slaves to Don. Eventually, they just became mercenaries who were paid by the Tsar then, later, the Soviets.

Ukrainian Cossacks are the original and best!

You'd fit into the right range for height, although my brother is the shortest man in the family at only 18.8m and, like you, very muscular My father was 1.96m. I'm considered 'average' height for a woman at 1.73m!

A girlfriend came out to Australia from the Ukraine and was in shock at how short people are. In her words, "A woman just isn't a woman unless she's at least 1.67m... and a man isn't a man unless he's 1.80m!" Mind you, we Ukrainian women do carry around measuring tapes to check on size, but they're not in metres ;) Living in Australia, I think I've understood that we're a very demanding culture 8]

You'd probably enjoy watching some videos on YouTube on Ukrainian martial arts (Boyoviy Hopak). Our traditional dancing style actually references the martial arts style. There's a reasonable @

(It's 10 minutes long and must be home footage for some guy before he went to Russia to demonstrate the style, but it gives an idea of how the cossack dance style and fighting style coincide)! There's a lot of footage of young boys and girls in training, but I don't really have the energy to search through. Enjoy... and enjoy some of the traditional hairstyles!
