This once was finished back in 2000, but I guess working in a machine shop at the time fouled my mind or somethin.' There was oil everywhere, even in the air, and for some as yet undeciphered reason I began to coat all my paintings with straight linseed oil. They looked, recently, like Old Masters - without the Master part.
So there were several 'redux's.' Lucky for me, the blue parts needed repainting worst...

I have to come back and tell you that this piece is fascinating for me
I look and it open door inside as if a corridor is extended in my mind until eternity

Interesting how you achieved the effect with the linseed oil. I love to experiment..sometimes it detours me totally from the original idea. Results can be unique though, even difficult to repeat.
I really like the 3D effect this piece has. And that blue sort of captures my thoughts like a magnet.
cheers

Ruela,

Thanks! And yeah, so far my most recent self-portrait. Still fits, I think.

TICTAC,

Yeah, I've thought about doing an ancient looking subject and giving it that oil coating treatment, just to see if I could really get an 'old' effect.

The blue became a sort of meditation that really cheered me up to the point where - if you enlarge the image you can see, just to the left of the white patch, the painted over Chinese character for "Joy/Lake" Hex#58 from the I Ching.

Great work, it's refreshing to see all this painting on discharge.

Fabulous! I've gone for a stroll down memory pain/sane and found all sorts of delights before the D6 chapter is truly over....

Is discharge Dada? No, it is not. Influenced by and with a similar attitude to, but not Dada..

Is discharge Fluxus? No, it is not. Influenced by and with a similar attitude to, but not Fluxus.

Is discharge art for intellectuals? No, discharge is for anyone and everyone who appreciates creativity in all its myriad forms. Be it static visual, audio or moving image; the written word or the deconstructed, non-linear form. The spoken word and noise.

All creativity is the springboard for discharge. It highjack’s a multitude of genres and disciplines and transposes them onto the internet. discharge is electronically transmitted art, be it via blog, myspace or whatever format possible, it can also be produced and seen in classic formats.

The discharge Chapbook. The discharge Building by Parts book. discharge has no rules. All contributors to discharge are responsible adults. discharge has no leaders although it has an elected body of rotating editors who oversee rather than dictate the flow of the group.

The aim of discharge is to profile creative people and to do away with the pretension of the art world. Everyday people creating art everyday to an exceptional quality.

Art by barrow boys and girls. discharge is international.
