Not proof enough!
you're right...
why "we" need proofs...?
I made my comment with reference to an Award Winning AFI (Australian Film Industry) winning film made in 1991. The central character, played by Hugo Weaving, was a blind photographer who trusted no one. He would take photographs and have someone else tell him what they could see in the photographs. Russell Crowe was his new friend/confidant and he wanted to believe that Russell was telling him, in all honesty, what he saw in the photographs. In fact, Russell's character was having an affair with the blind photographer's girlfriend so Crowe's character lied about what he saw in the photographs.
Basically, the premise was brilliant. 'Proof' was only to be seen in the obvious (photographic evidence)... and such evidence is as complicated as the reality of our existences. In truth, it did not reveal the girlfriends true love for the Weaving character (the blind photographer and his fear of being cheated). It did not reveal that his friend's (Crowe's motivation for an affair) was not a betrayal... Still, the blind photographer could only understand/'see' PROOF as being absolute.
I do wish I knew Portuguese. If this is too difficult for you to understand what I am trying to express, please let me know & I'll try to express my interpretation in a way easier for you to understand in the translation.
I understand everything Iryna, have some problems only in the writting...
Apologies if that sounded insulting, Ruela! It was not meant to be. I ought to know that your English is good by now!
I have problems (mainly with grammar) in other languages. When it comes to reading/listening I understand perfectly... but I feel awkward writing/speaking back. At least English grammar is easy (although spelling is a nightmare)! ;)
Don't worry ;)
And I like your description of Proof. Thanks Iryna.
If you ever have a chance to watch it, do so. It's truly a classic. It is both physically and psychologically/emotionally delicious...
ok, thanx Iryna.
I knew a guy who was so...paranoid, I guess you'd say, he harrassed his wife 'til she finally confessed falsely to having slept with his best friend. Then he forced her into the best friends presence and pressed her, in tears, to say, "____ you screwed me!" Then, having "proof," he proceeded to pound on his best friend.
love is crazy ;)
Mr Decker,
Over my many years on this planet, I've encountered a lot of Jacks... er, Police... who extract 'proof' in a similar way.
Love may be crazy but the Jacks are even more vicious and crazy. They're not motivated by possessive love: they're motivated by the love of their own cruelty and the state imbuing them with the power to represent state interests.
There's definitely a theme developing here. Authority = hard-on!
